Recording Controls (in the Go Live panel)

There is no separate Recording panel in the studio. Every recording option lives in the dropdown that opens from the header’s Go Live button (or Record, which is the same button when no destination is active). Recording starts and stops with the session itself — there is no independent start/stop recording button, no quality/resolution/format pickers, and no choice of file container.

Location

  • Position: Header, top right — the blue Go Live button.
  • When no destination is active the same button reads Record; clicking either one opens the same dropdown.
  • Recording options can only be changed before the session starts.

What the dropdown contains

Top to bottom:

  1. Recording (checkbox) — whether the session is recorded. The recording covers the whole session and is available for download in the dashboard once the session ends. On the free plan a note reads “(Max: 7 minutes on the free plan)” — the livestream continues, only the recording stops after 7 minutes. With no active destination this checkbox is forced on and cannot be unticked: a session must either stream or record.
  2. Landscape recording / Portrait recording (checkboxes, indented) — which orientations get recorded. They appear only while Recording is on. Recording both orientations at once requires a Pro plan or higher; when the plan does not allow it, a yellow notice appears and the Start button is disabled until the selection changes.
  3. Local Recording (ISO) (checkbox) — see below. Pro plan and up.
  4. Video + Audio / Audio only (radio buttons, indented) — the recording type for Local Recording. They appear only while Local Recording is on.
  5. Starting scene — a tile showing which scene the broadcast opens with; click it to pick another. With no Pro scenes the tile is replaced by Add Intro Scene.
  6. Start — begins the broadcast and/or the recording.
  7. An information tile with the plan’s maximum broadcast time.

Local Recording (ISO)

Records each participant’s own video and audio on their own machine, in up to 4K, independent of internet quality. All files reach your dashboard after the session ends. Requires a Pro plan — on lower plans clicking it opens an upgrade message.

When Local Recording is on, choose Video + Audio (full recording) or Audio only (sound alone). Some accounts also see a Check participants storage link that reports whether every participant has enough free disk space.

Note: if a participant’s internet drops and reconnects mid-session, their local recording continues in a new file — one participant can therefore end up with several files for a single session.

While the session runs

  • The header button becomes End Broadcast (or End Recording when nothing is being streamed) with the elapsed time next to it. Clicking it asks for confirmation.
  • In a recording-only session (no active destination) a Pause button sits next to it on accounts where the feature is enabled. Pausing keeps the session timer running — paused time still counts toward the plan’s recording limit — and produces one continuous file rather than several. The button becomes Play to resume.

Getting your recordings

Recordings are not downloaded from the studio. They appear in the dashboard after the session ends, where they can be played, downloaded or deleted.

Troubleshooting

The Recording checkbox can’t be unticked — no destination is active, so the session must record; activate a destination first.

Start is disabled with a yellow notice — the chosen destinations and recording orientations need both landscape and portrait, which requires a Pro plan. Untick one orientation or upgrade.

Recording won’t start because of storage — the account is out of storage. The message offers to delete old recordings, turn recording off for this session, or upgrade.
