How to Use Scheduling in Destinations

Evmux allows you to schedule your livestream in advance and create scheduled announcements on social platforms. This helps your audience know when you’ll be live.

What Scheduling Does

When you enable scheduling:

  1. Creates a scheduled post on your connected platforms (Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X)
  2. Announces your upcoming stream to your audience in advance
  3. Sets a scheduled start time for when you plan to go live
  4. Adds a thumbnail to the scheduled announcement post

It does NOT start the broadcast for you

Scheduling here only creates the announcement on the platform. When the time comes you must open the studio and click Go Live yourself — nothing starts by itself, and the session does not need to stay open in the meantime.

Do not confuse this with a Pre-Recorded Livestream, which is the one feature that does start on its own: that takes an existing recording and streams it automatically at the scheduled time, with no one present. Scheduling a destination is for a live show you will present yourself.

How to Enable Scheduling

Step 1: Open the Destinations Settings

  1. Go to the Editor (Studio)
  2. Click Edit Destinations / Add Destination in the header, at the top right
  3. Click the Edit or Settings button to open the destinations popup

Step 2: Enable “Schedule for Later”

  1. In the destinations popup, find the checkbox: “Schedule for later”
  2. Check the box to enable scheduling
  3. New options will appear below

Step 3: Set the Schedule Time

After enabling scheduling, you’ll see:

  1. Schedule time - Set the date and time when you plan to go live
    • Click the Date field to select a date
    • Click the Time field to select a time
    • The time is shown in your local timezone

Step 4: Add a Thumbnail (Optional)

  1. An image selector appears when scheduling is enabled
  2. Click to upload a thumbnail for your scheduled post
  3. This image will appear in your scheduled announcement on social platforms

Step 5: Set Title and Description

  1. Enter a Title for your stream (up to 150 characters)
  2. Enter a Description for your stream (up to 5000 characters)
  3. These will appear in your scheduled posts

Step 6: Save

  1. Click Save or Done to apply the scheduling
  2. Evmux will create scheduled posts on your enabled destinations

What Happens After Scheduling

  • Scheduled posts are created on platforms that support it (Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X)
  • Your audience can see the upcoming stream announcement
  • On YouTube: A “scheduled event” is created
  • On Facebook: A “scheduled live video” post is created
  • On LinkedIn: A “scheduled broadcast” is created
  • On X: A scheduled broadcast is created and an announcement post with its link goes on your profile

Going Live to a Scheduled Stream

When it’s time to go live:

  1. Open your Studio at or before the scheduled time
  2. Click Go Live
  3. Your stream connects to the scheduled event you created
  4. Viewers who saw your announcement will be notified

For Pre-Recorded Content

If you’re using pre-recorded video (simulive):

Two scheduling options appear:

This allows you to announce early but start the stream later.

Platform-Specific Notes

YouTube

  • Creates a scheduled live event
  • Viewers can set reminders
  • You can also “Connect to existing event” if you scheduled directly on YouTube

Facebook

  • Creates a scheduled live video post
  • Appears in your feed with “Going live at…” message
  • Followers may receive notifications

LinkedIn

  • Creates a scheduled broadcast
  • Note: LinkedIn doesn’t allow editing events via API after creation
  • If you need to change the time, edit on LinkedIn directly and use “Connect to existing event”

X (Twitter)

  • Creates a scheduled broadcast and posts an announcement with its link on your X profile
  • The thumbnail becomes the pre-live image of the broadcast page
  • You can also “Connect to an existing event” for a broadcast scheduled in X’s own tools
  • Requires an X Premium account; see Schedule a Live Broadcast on X

Tips

  • Schedule at least 24-48 hours in advance to give your audience time to see it
  • Use an eye-catching thumbnail
  • Write a compelling title and description
  • Test your setup before the scheduled time

Troubleshooting

Can’t find “Schedule for later”?

  • Make sure you’re in the destinations popup (not just the destinations list)
  • Click Edit or Settings on your destination to open the full popup

Schedule time shows wrong timezone?

  • The time picker uses your local timezone
  • Check your system timezone settings if it’s incorrect

LinkedIn scheduling disabled after posting?

  • LinkedIn doesn’t allow API edits to scheduled events
  • To change: Edit on LinkedIn directly, then use “Connect to existing event” in Evmux

Scheduled post didn’t appear?

  • Check that the destination was active (enabled)
  • Verify the platform account is properly connected
  • Look in your platform’s scheduled/upcoming content section
