Background Music
Background Music allows you to play audio tracks during your broadcast for ambiance, transitions, or entertainment.

Where to find it
The Music section is in the Sound tab of the studio. It shows:
- The track list (draggable)
- A volume button
- A playlist mode toggle
- An Edit list button
Each track in the list shows:
- Name
- Duration
- Play/Pause button
- Volume control
- Loop toggle
- Drag handle
Controls
Global volume
The speaker icon beside the playlist sets the master volume for all background music, from 0 to 100. Clicking it opens a volume slider. There is no separate audio mixer panel in evmux.
The icon changes with the level:
- Muted (0)
- Low (1-33)
- Medium (34-66)
- High (67-100)
Playlist mode
When playlist mode is on:
- Tracks auto-advance when a track finishes
- The next track in the list plays
- Playback continues until the end of the list or until you stop it
Playlist mode and per-track loop are exclusive: turning on playlist mode turns off all track loops, and turning on a loop turns off playlist mode.
Per-track loop
With playlist mode off, you can set any track to repeat when it finishes. This is useful for ambiance tracks.

Managing tracks
Adding tracks
- Click Edit list.
- The Media Chooser opens, filtered to audio files.
- Select the tracks to add.
- The tracks are added to the end of the list.
Removing tracks
- Deselect them in the Media Chooser (bulk selection), or
- Delete the audio asset from your media library. A track is removed from the playlist automatically when its audio file is deleted.
Reordering
- Drag a track using its drag handle.
- Drop it in the new position.
- The order is saved automatically.
Track settings
Each track has its own volume (0-100), a loop setting, and a display name you can edit with the edit icon next to the name.
File requirements
- Format: MP3, MPEG
- No duration limit
- Uploaded through the Media Chooser
- Stored as audio assets in your media library
Best practices
- Prepare the playlist before the broadcast.
- Test levels and balance music against voices.
- Use loop wisely, mainly for ambiance tracks.
- Consider transitions, with music for segment changes.
- Keep variety with several tracks ready.
Music and sound effects
Background music and sound effects share the Sound tab but work independently of each other.
