How to Schedule a Live Broadcast on X

Evmux can schedule your X (formerly Twitter) live broadcast in advance, the same way it does for YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn. Scheduling creates the upcoming broadcast on X, posts an announcement with the broadcast link on your X profile, and lets you add a thumbnail that viewers see before you go live.

What Scheduling on X Does

When you enable Schedule for later on an X destination:

  1. Creates a scheduled broadcast on X for the date and time you pick
  2. Posts an announcement on your X profile with the broadcast link. It shows the thumbnail and the start time, so followers know when you go live
  3. Sets the thumbnail (pre-live image) that viewers see on the broadcast page before you start
  4. Keeps the broadcast unpublished until you go live — X will not open it to viewers on its own

It does NOT start the broadcast for you

As with every other platform, scheduling only creates the announcement. When the time comes you open the studio and click Go Live yourself. Evmux then publishes the scheduled broadcast the moment your stream reaches X, whether that is early, on time, or late.

Requirements

  • An X Premium account (X requires Premium to live stream)
  • The X account added as a destination in evmux (see Add a Destination)

Detailed Steps

Step 1: Open the destinations popup

  1. In the Editor (Studio), click the Destinations button in the header at the top right
  2. The destinations popup opens with your connected accounts listed

Step 2: Expand the X destination

  1. Find your X destination in the list
  2. Click on it to expand its settings
  3. You see the Title field, the Orientation selector and the Schedule for later checkbox

Step 3: Enter a title

  1. Click the Title field
  2. Type the title of your broadcast — this is what X shows on the broadcast page and in the announcement post

Value: “Product launch live from the studio”

Step 4: Enable “Schedule for later”

  1. Check the Schedule for later checkbox
  2. A Thumbnail image selector appears below it
  3. A Schedule time row appears at the bottom of the popup

Step 5: Set the schedule time

  1. Click the Schedule time link at the bottom of the popup
  2. Pick the date and time you plan to go live — the time is shown in your local timezone
  3. Confirm the picker

Step 6: Add a thumbnail

  1. Click the Thumbnail image selector
  2. Choose an image from your computer and crop it if asked
  3. This image becomes the pre-live cover of the broadcast on X

Step 7: Save

  1. Click Save
  2. Evmux creates the scheduled broadcast on X, uploads the thumbnail, and posts the announcement
  3. When it finishes, a Link to scheduled broadcast appears next to the checkbox — click it to see the broadcast page on X

What Happens After Scheduling

  • The broadcast exists on X in an upcoming state with your title and thumbnail
  • An announcement post with the broadcast link is on your X profile
  • Evmux remembers the stream key of that broadcast, so going live streams into it and not into a new one

Going Live to a Scheduled X Broadcast

  1. Open your Studio at or before the scheduled time
  2. Click Go Live in the header and start the show
  3. As soon as X receives your video, evmux publishes the scheduled broadcast to viewers
  4. Anyone who saw the announcement can now watch

Changing the Schedule

  • Title or time: expand the X destination, change the field, and click Save. Evmux updates the broadcast on X. If the title changed, the announcement post is replaced with a new one.
  • Thumbnail: pick a new image and click Save
  • Cancel: uncheck Schedule for later. Evmux asks whether to also delete the broadcast on X; if you confirm, the scheduled broadcast and its announcement post are removed

Connecting to a Broadcast Scheduled on X

If you scheduled the broadcast in X’s own tools (for example X Producer / Media Studio), you can stream into it from evmux without copying stream keys:

  1. Expand the X destination
  2. Click Connect to an existing event
  3. Pick the scheduled broadcast from the list and click Confirm
  4. Click Save
  5. Evmux takes over that broadcast: its title and start time are filled in, and Go Live streams into it

Note: if that broadcast was set on X to publish automatically at its start time, evmux switches it to manual so it opens to viewers only when your stream is actually running.

Replying to X Chat

While live on X, the Comments tab shows the X live chat, and you can reply from evmux:

  1. Open the Comments tab in the Studio
  2. Make sure X is selected as a destination for your reply
  3. Type your message (X allows up to 140 characters) and send
  4. Your reply appears in the X chat under your account name, and shows up in the Comments tab with the rest of the chat

Platform-Specific Notes

  • X shows scheduled broadcasts only through their link. The announcement post evmux publishes, with the cover and the “Starting …” time, is how your followers discover the upcoming stream.
  • The thumbnail is the pre-live image on the broadcast page; it does not change the announcement post’s own preview.
  • One X account can have only one active evmux stream at a time.

Troubleshooting

“A Premium account on X is required”

  • X only allows live streaming for Premium accounts. Subscribe on X or stream to a different destination.
  • Open it while logged in to X as the broadcasting account; the page shows the scheduled time and the thumbnail once the thumbnail has been uploaded

Failed to upload thumbnail

  • Use a JPG or PNG under 4 MB and try again. The schedule itself is created even if the thumbnail fails, so you can add the image later and click Save

Went live but the broadcast did not appear on X

  • Evmux publishes the broadcast only once X reports your video is arriving. Check the destination status in the studio header; a red status means the stream to X did not start
