How to Control a Slideshow

This guide shows you how to navigate and control slideshow layers during your broadcast.

Quick Steps

  1. Add a slideshow layer to your scene
  2. Use the slideshow controls that appear on the layer
  3. Click arrows to navigate or use the slide selector

Slideshow Controls

When a slideshow layer is selected or active, controls appear at the bottom of the layer:

Slide dropdownShows current slide number, click to see all slides
Left arrowGo to previous slide (tooltip: “Previous Slide”)
Right arrowGo to next slide (tooltip: “Next Slide”)

Detailed Steps

Step 1: Locate Slideshow Controls

  1. Find your slideshow layer in the scene
  2. The control bar appears at the bottom center
  3. Shows “Slide X” where X is the current slide number

Step 2: Navigate with Arrows

Previous Slide:

  • Click the left arrow button
  • Tooltip: “Previous Slide”
  • Disabled (dimmed) when on first slide

Next Slide:

  • Click the right arrow button
  • Tooltip: “Next Slide”
  • Disabled (dimmed) when on last slide

Step 3: Jump to Any Slide

  1. Click the Slide dropdown (shows current slide number)
  2. A flyout panel opens showing all slides
  3. Click any slide thumbnail to jump directly to it
  4. Click outside to close the panel

Slide Selector Flyout

When you click the slide dropdown:

  • Shows thumbnail preview of each slide
  • Displays slide numbers
  • Current slide is highlighted
  • Click any slide to navigate to it

Tips

During Live Broadcast

  • Plan your slide transitions
  • Use next/previous for sequential flow
  • Use the dropdown for jumping to specific slides

Control Visibility

  • Controls scale automatically based on layer size
  • On very small layers, controls become more compact
  • Controls are always accessible when the layer is visible

Mobile Considerations

  • On mobile, controls span the full width
  • Touch-friendly button sizes
  • Same functionality as desktop

Keyboard Navigation

You can also control slideshows using hotkeys:

  • Configure slideshow hotkeys in Settings → Hotkeys
  • Assign keys for next/previous slide actions

Troubleshooting

Controls not visible?

  • Ensure the slideshow layer is in the current scene
  • Check that the layer isn’t hidden
  • Verify the slideshow has multiple slides
  • First slide: Previous button is disabled
  • Last slide: Next button is disabled
  • This is normal behavior

Slideshow not updating?

  • Click the slide again to confirm selection
  • Check if the slideshow is properly loaded
  • Verify the slideshow asset hasn’t been deleted
