How to Let a Guest Stream Your Livestream to Their Own Social Networks

If your guest (or co-host) wants to simultaneously broadcast your livestream to their own YouTube channel, Facebook page, Twitch, or any other platform, Evmux has a built-in Guest Destinations feature. The same live show streams to multiple platforms at once - yours AND theirs.

Overview

Evmux supports multi-user, multi-destination broadcasting. Each participant can connect their own social accounts and the stream goes to all enabled destinations when you Go Live.

There are three approaches:

Option 1: Guest Destinations (Recommended - Built-in Feature)

Evmux has a built-in Guest Destinations feature that allows guests and speakers to connect their own social accounts and stream the show to their channels directly.

How It Works

• The host (editor) enables Guest Destinations for the session
• Guests/speakers join the session and can add their own streaming destinations
• The Destinations panel shows Host and Guest tabs to organize destinations
• Each destination tracks who added it
• When the host clicks Go Live, the stream goes to ALL active destinations (host + guest)

Steps for the Host

1. Open the Editor (Studio)
2. Make sure the Guest Destinations feature is enabled for your session
   • This may require a plan that supports guest destinations
3. Invite your guest to join the session (via guest link or as a registered speaker)
4. When your guest joins, they can add their own destinations

Steps for the Guest

1. Join the evmux session via the guest invitation link
2. Click the Destinations button (or the + to add a destination)
3. If not already logged in, you’ll be prompted: “To add your own streaming destination, you need to log in or create a free evmux account”
4. Log in or create a free evmux account
5. Click + to add a destination
6. Select your platform (YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, etc.)
7. Connect and authorize your social account
8. Your destination appears under the Guest tab
9. Make sure the destination toggle is ON
10. When the host clicks Go Live, the stream goes to your channel too!

Host Controls

The host maintains full control over guest destinations:

Important Notes

• Guest Destinations requires the host’s plan to support this feature (guestDestinations capability)
• Guests need a free evmux account (prompted to register when adding destinations)
• Guests can only manage their own destinations - they cannot modify the host’s
• The host can disable guest destinations at any time (this removes all guest destinations)

Option 2: Custom RTMP (No Guest Account Needed)

If Guest Destinations is not available on your plan, or the guest doesn’t want to create an evmux account, you can manually add their streaming credentials.

How to Get Guest’s RTMP Credentials

Ask your guest to get their RTMP Server URL and Stream Key from their platform:

Facebook	Facebook Live Producer → Go Live → Use Stream Key
Twitch	Twitch Dashboard → Settings → Stream → Copy Primary Stream Key
LinkedIn	LinkedIn Live → Create Event → Copy Stream URL and Key
Other	Check the platform’s live streaming settings

Steps

1. In the Evmux Editor, open the Destinations panel
2. Click the + button to add a new destination
3. Select Custom RTMP
4. Enter the guest’s RTMP Server URL
5. Enter the guest’s Stream Key
6. Save the destination
7. Make sure the destination toggle is ON
8. When you click Go Live, the stream goes to both your destinations AND the guest’s

Important Notes

• Custom RTMP requires a paid plan
• The guest does NOT need an evmux account
• Comments from the guest’s platform will not be pulled into evmux (Custom RTMP doesn’t support comment fetching)
• The guest should NOT click “Go Live” on their own platform - evmux handles the stream delivery

Option 3: Use a Restreaming Service

If you need to stream to many platforms or the guest doesn’t want to share their stream key:

1. Sign up for a restreaming service (e.g., Restream.io, Castr)
2. Connect the guest’s social accounts to the restreaming service
3. Get the restreaming service’s RTMP URL and Stream Key
4. Add it as a Custom RTMP destination in evmux
5. The restreaming service redistributes to all connected platforms

Step-by-Step: Most Common Scenario

“My guest has a YouTube channel and wants the show on their channel too”

Using Guest Destinations (if available):

1. Guest joins your evmux session
2. Guest clicks the Destinations button
3. Guest logs in / registers for a free evmux account
4. Guest adds YouTube as a destination and authorizes their channel
5. Host clicks Go Live - stream goes to both channels!

Using Custom RTMP (fallback):

1. Ask your guest to go to YouTube Studio → Go Live → Stream
2. Have them copy the Stream URL (e.g., rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2)
3. Have them copy the Stream Key (e.g., xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx)
4. In evmux Editor, open Destinations → click + → select Custom RTMP
5. Paste the Stream URL and Stream Key
6. Enable the destination
7. Click Go Live - the stream now goes to both your channel and theirs!

Troubleshooting

Guest can’t add destinations?

• Make sure your plan supports Guest Destinations
• The guest needs to log in or register for a free evmux account
• Check that the host has not disabled Guest Destinations for this session

“Feature Not Available” message?

• Your current plan doesn’t include Guest Destinations
• Ask the account owner to upgrade the plan
• Use Custom RTMP as an alternative (guest provides stream key)

Stream not appearing on guest’s platform?

• Verify the destination is toggled ON
• For Custom RTMP: check RTMP URL and Stream Key are correct
• Check if the guest’s platform requires them to “start” the live event first
• Custom RTMP requires a paid evmux plan

Guest sees “Registration required”?

• This is expected - guests must create a free evmux account to add their own destinations
• Click “Login / Register” and follow the prompts

Quality issues on guest’s platform?

• Evmux streams the same quality to all destinations
• Check your internet upload speed - each destination requires bandwidth
• Reduce the number of simultaneous destinations if bandwidth is limited
