How to Use Exclusive Talk
This guide shows you how to use Exclusive Talk mode to hear only one participant while muting all others.
Quick Steps
- Hover over a speaker or guest layer
- Click the Exclusive Talk button (microphone takeover icon)
- Only that participant’s audio is heard
- Click again to disable
What is Exclusive Talk?
Exclusive Talk is a quick way to:
- Focus audio on a single participant
- Temporarily mute all other speakers
- Have a private conversation with one person
This is useful for:
- Giving private instructions to a guest
- Hearing one person clearly in a busy session
- Quick audio checks before going live
Detailed Steps
Step 1: Locate the Speaker Layer
- Find the participant in the scene (Dynamic Scene or Pro Scene)
- Hover over their video layer
- The Exclusive Talk button appears in the bottom-right corner
Step 2: Enable Exclusive Talk
- Click the Exclusive Talk button (microphone takeover icon)
- Tooltip: “Exclusive Talk”
- The button becomes highlighted (blue border)
- All other participants are muted
- If the speaker was muted, they are automatically unmuted
Step 3: Communicate
- Only the selected participant’s audio is heard
- You can speak to them privately
- Other participants cannot hear the conversation
Step 4: Disable Exclusive Talk
- Click the Exclusive Talk button again
- The button returns to normal state
- All participants’ audio returns to previous state
Button States

Where the Button Appears
The Exclusive Talk button appears on:
- Speaker layers
- Remote guest layers
- Layers in Dynamic Scene
- Layers in Pro Scenes with dynamicGrid
Button Size
The button automatically adjusts size based on layer dimensions:
- Standard (34x34px): Layers wider than ~140px
- Small (28x28px): Narrower layers
Tips
Quick Communication
- Great for last-minute instructions before going live
- Use during breaks to coordinate with team
- Perfect for giving directions to nervous guests
Audio Behavior
- If the target speaker was muted, they’re automatically unmuted
- When disabled, audio returns to previous states
- Works across both Dynamic Scene and dynamicGrid layers
Multiple Scenes
- Exclusive talk syncs across scenes with the same participant
- If participant appears in both Dynamic Scene and a Pro Scene with dynamicGrid, both update
Troubleshooting
Button not appearing?
- Ensure you’re hovering over a speaker or guest layer
- Check that the layer isn’t too small
- Button only appears on supported layer types
Can’t hear the speaker?
- Check that their audio source is working
- Verify your output device
- The speaker may need to unmute themselves
Other participants still audible?
- Ensure exclusive talk is fully activated (blue border)
- Check if audio is coming from a different source
- Some system sounds may still play
