Settings

evmux provides comprehensive settings for configuring your camera, audio, virtual background and user preferences.

Settings panels

The main settings popup contains 7 sections:

Camera settings

Options

Camera Selection: choose from connected cameras
Resolution: Auto, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2160p
Toggle Camera: enable or disable your video
Beautification: smoothing effect with an intensity slider (0-100)
Mirror Locally: flip the preview for yourself
Mirror on Stream: flip your picture for viewers

Performance warnings

High resolution combined with effects may affect performance.
evmux checks your graphics hardware and warns you if a setting may be too heavy for it.

Audio settings

Input options

Microphone Selection: choose the input device
Volume Meter: real-time audio level
Mute Toggle: quick mute/unmute

Output options

Speaker Selection: choose the output device (when the browser supports it)

Test audio panel

A built-in “Test audio” panel sits between the input and output device selectors:

“Hear yourself” button: live loopback of your mic through the selected output (use headphones to avoid feedback).
“Record & Listen” controls: record a 5-second sample at the current volume and play it back.

Audio processing

Warnings

evmux alerts you when the same audio source is used by several layers (echo risk).

Virtual background settings

Green screen mode

When you have a physical green or blue screen:

Enable toggle: “I have a green screen”
Backdrop Color: Green or Blue
Intensity: colour matching threshold (1-100)
Edge Softness: smooths the edges (1-100)

AI background removal

When you have no physical green screen:

No Background: transparent
Min Blur: light background blur
Max Blur: heavy background blur
Virtual Backgrounds: replace the background with an image

Background library

Upload your own images
AI-generated images, where available
Use a screen share as the background
Ready-made library images

Performance alert

A resource-usage message is shown the first time; you must acknowledge it before continuing.

Hotkey configuration

Supported keys

Letters: A-Z
Numbers: 0-9
Arrows: Up, Down, Left, Right
Function keys: F1-F12
Modifiers: Alt/Option, Ctrl, Shift, Meta/Command

Tab and Escape cannot be used; they cancel shortcut editing.

Rules

Every shortcut is at least one modifier plus a key: “Shortcut must include at least one modifier (Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Cmd) plus a key”
Maximum 3 keys: “Shortcut can’t be longer than 3 keys”
A shortcut already used by another action is refused, and evmux names the action that owns it

Profile fields

Name: display name (single, or first and last)
Title/Position: professional title
Company: organisation name
Email: contact email (read-only unless you are the account owner)
Phone: contact number

Avatar: profile picture (600x600 suggested)
Logo: personal logo (100x100, transparent PNG)

Account info

Personal login URL (read-only, copyable)

Advanced settings

Editor options

Setting	Description
Disable stinger preview while not live and studio mode is off	Skips the stinger in the editor
Allow the moderator to change any settings in the studio	Includes camera and microphone (remote settings)
Switch the editing composition to the most recent live scene after transitioning	Auto-follows the live scene
Show scene numbers	Displays the number on each scene tile
Keep controls hidden in full screen on mouse move	Full screen shows only an exit button
Sound notification when a participant enters the studio	Join sound
Mute all participants and feeds in the Dynamic Scene when playing a video clip	Ducks the room during clips
Exclusive Talk	Give the microphone to specific guests while the rest stay muted
Automatic Picture-in-Picture	Opens a picture-in-picture window automatically
Enable quick actions for Push-to-Talk & Private Messages	Volume controls move to a submenu

Note: the Advanced settings screen currently carries the heading “Hotkeys”. That is a known labelling bug in the studio, not a different screen.

Remote settings

A moderator can change another participant’s camera and microphone settings, but only after that participant approves it in a dialog. The approval can be remembered. This is a Pro plan feature.

Best practices

Test before going live. Verify all settings work.
Use headphones to prevent echo.
Check your lighting. Good lighting improves video quality.
Set up hotkeys for faster production control.
Configure auto-hide so comments do not stay on screen too long.
Enable noise suppression for cleaner audio.
