User Apps & Plugins

User Apps (also called Widgets) are third-party applications that run inside evmux. They add custom functionality, interactive overlays, and integrations with external services to your scenes.

App Market

The evmux App Market is the built-in marketplace for discovering and adding apps.

Accessing the Market

  • Click the Widgets button, or use the add layer menu
  • The App Market dialog opens
  • Search by name or description
  • Open an app to see its details, developer info (name, website, support email), and a gallery of screenshots or videos

Adding Apps

Both scene types

Apps can be added to the Dynamic Scene and to Pro scenes — there is no Pro-scene requirement:

  • Dynamic Scene: Layers tab → Apps & Widgets accordion → Add from marketplace
  • Pro scene: Layers tab → Add New Layer → Apps & Widgets
  • Either route opens the same App Market, and the app is added to the scene as an app layer

Installation Flow

  1. Select an app in the marketplace
  2. Click Add to Scene
  3. The app is placed on the scene as its own layer
  4. Configure it in the side settings panel

App Settings

  • Each app on a scene has a side settings panel
  • The settings are defined by the app’s developer, so they differ from app to app
  • Settings are saved per app instance: if you add the same app twice, each copy keeps its own settings

Fast Access Buttons

Some apps add quick-action buttons to the fast access bar:

  • One-click actions during the show
  • Each button has its own icon and label set by the app

What Apps Can Do

Depending on how it was built, an app can:

  • Show live comments and viewer statistics from your broadcast
  • React to keyboard input while it has focus
  • Open evmux’s own pickers (scene picker, layer selector, media gallery, date and time picker) and show toast notifications
  • Switch scenes or add layers on your behalf
