How to Generate AI Images

This guide shows you how to use AI to generate custom images directly in evmux for use in your broadcast.

Quick Steps

  1. Click Add New Layer in the Layers panel
  2. Select AI Generated Image from the menu
  3. Enter a description of what you want to create
  4. Click Generate to create the image
  5. Click Add to save the result to your media library
  6. Click Add to Scene in the toast notification (bottom-right) to place it on the scene

Detailed Steps

Step 1: Open AI Image Generator

  1. In the Layers panel, click Add New Layer
  2. Select AI Generated Image from the menu
  3. The “Generate a new image with AI” dialog opens

Step 2: Describe Your Image

In the text area, describe what you want to generate:

Good prompts:

  • “A futuristic gaming logo with neon colors”
  • “Professional podcast background with microphone silhouette”
  • “Abstract colorful streaming overlay border”

Tips for better results:

  • Be specific about colors, style, and mood
  • Mention the intended use (logo, background, overlay)
  • Include artistic style (minimalist, vibrant, professional)

Step 3: Configure Options

Enhance prompt with AI (checkbox)

  • When enabled, AI improves your description for better results
  • Automatically disabled if the prompt exceeds 500 characters

Generate Object (checkbox, if available)

  • Creates an image with a transparent background
  • Perfect for logos, icons, and graphic elements
  • Useful for overlays that need to blend with content

Step 4: Generate the Image

  1. Click the Generate button (with the magic wand icon)
  2. Wait 15-30 seconds for the image to be created — a loading spinner is shown during generation. The image is created on evmux’s servers; it cannot be hurried.
  3. The generated image appears in the preview area

Note: “Credits left:” shows your remaining generation credits, and the tooltip shows “Prompt tries left:”.

Step 5: Save the Image to Your Media Library

  1. Review the generated image in the preview area
  2. Click the Add button (blue, bottom-right of the dialog)
  3. The dialog closes and the image is uploaded to your My Uploads media library (visible in the Layers > Add Media panel on the left)

Important: Clicking Add here does NOT place the image on the scene — it only saves it to your media library. To put it on the scene you must do Step 6.

Alternative actions in the same dialog:

  • Regenerate (top-right): generate a new image with the same prompt. Each generation produces a unique image. A yellow info tile reminds you: “Click on generate again with the same input will generate different image.”
  • Download (bottom-left): save the image to your computer without uploading it to evmux.
  • Cancel (bottom-right): close the dialog without saving the image.

Step 6: Add the Image to the Scene

Right after Step 5, a toast notification appears in the bottom-right corner that says “Uploading finished” with the new image thumbnail and an Add to Scene button.

  1. Click the blue Add to Scene button inside the toast
  2. The image is placed as a new layer on the current scene
  3. You can now position and resize it (see How to Resize and Move Layers)

Alternative if the toast disappears or you missed it: open the Add Media panel (Layers tab > Add Media > My Uploads), find your newly uploaded image, and click its thumbnail to add it to the scene.

Tips for Best Results

Prompt Writing

  • Start with the main subject
  • Add style descriptors (modern, vintage, neon, etc.)
  • Specify colors if important
  • Mention transparency if needed for overlays

Using Generated Images

  • Resize to fit your layout
  • Apply effects or frames if needed
  • Layer with other elements
  • Use as backgrounds or foreground elements

Credit System

  • AI image generation uses credits
  • Check the “Credits left:” counter before generating
  • Each generation consumes one credit
  • Credits may refresh based on your plan

Troubleshooting

Generation failed?

  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify you have credits remaining
  • Try a simpler prompt
  • Refresh the page and try again

Image doesn’t match description?

  • Be more specific in your prompt
  • Enable “Enhance prompt with AI”
  • Try different wording
  • Generate multiple times for variations

Object mode not available?

  • Object generation must be enabled for your account
  • It may require a specific plan level
  • Contact support if you expect it but don’t see it
