Share a Recording to Social Media

Publish a finished evmux recording directly to Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, or TikTok without downloading and re-uploading. See social-share for the full feature overview.

Prerequisites

The recording has finished processing (status READY). Recordings that are still processing cannot be shared yet.
Social Share is enabled on your account. If you do not see the “Social Share” item in the recording’s dropdown, the feature is not enabled for you.
For TikTok, TikTok sharing must also be enabled on your account.
You have at least one connected social destination for the platform you want to share to. If not, you can add one mid-flow (see Step 4).
The recording must fit each target platform’s length limit:
- Facebook Reel: under 90 seconds
- YouTube Short: 3 minutes or under (180 s)
- TikTok: 10 minutes or under (600 s)
- LinkedIn: no limit
- Facebook and YouTube also accept the full recording as a standard post. Only the Reel/Short toggles are length-gated.

Steps

On the Recordings page, find the recording you want to share and click the three-dot dropdown on its row.

In the dropdown, click “Social Share” (it has a blue “New” badge next to it).

The Social Share modal opens with the title “Share to Social Media” and loads your connected destinations, both your personal ones and those connected to the current event.

If “Loading destinations…” does not go away, or you see “No destinations connected”, you need to add a destination first. Skip to Step 4.

Step 3: Select one or more destinations

Click the thumbnail of each destination you want to share to. Selected destinations get a blue border; unselected ones are faded.

You can select multiple destinations across multiple platforms at once. Each selected destination expands into its own accordion with platform-specific fields below.

Step 4 (optional): Add a destination mid-flow

If you need a destination that is not connected yet, click “Add Destination”. The Social Share modal will:

Hide itself temporarily.
Open the standard destinations popup so you can sign in to the platform and authorize evmux.
Reopen automatically when you are done.
Keep any destinations you already selected.

After authorizing, your new destination appears in the modal. Click its thumbnail to select it.

Step 5: Fill in per-platform fields

Each selected destination has its own accordion with the platform’s required fields:

YouTube	Title (up to 100 characters), Description, Privacy (Private / Unlisted / Public), optional “Share as Short” if the recording is 180 s or shorter
Facebook Page	Description, optional “Share as Reel” if the recording is under 90 s
LinkedIn (Profile or Page)	Title (up to 100 characters), Description
TikTok	Title (up to 150 characters), Description, Privacy (required), commercial-disclosure checkbox, interaction toggles

If you selected several destinations, use the “Apply to all” buttons next to the title and description fields to copy your text to every accordion at once.

Step 6 (TikTok only): Set the required privacy and any compliance flags

If any selected destination is TikTok, you must set Privacy for it. The Share button stays disabled until you do.

Privacy options:

Public
Friends (mutual followers)
Only me

If you are posting branded content, tick “This content promotes a brand, product, or service” and pick the appropriate option:

“Your Brand - You are promoting yourself or your own business”: no extra restrictions.
“Branded Content - You are promoting another brand or a third party”: privacy is restricted to Public or Friends. If you previously selected Only me, the modal silently switches you to Public.

Optionally toggle Allow Comment, Allow Duet, Allow Stitch (all off by default).

If the recording is longer than 10 minutes, you will see “Video is too long for TikTok. Maximum allowed duration is 10 minutes.” You cannot share to TikTok in that case. Unselect the TikTok destination or trim the recording first (use “Trim video” from the same dropdown).

The Share button reads “Share to N destination(s)” with the current count. While the share runs, the button text changes to “Sharing…” and the modal title changes to “Share Results”.

All destinations are shared at the same time. A failure on one does not block the others.

Step 8: Review results

Each destination appears with a success or failure status:

Success: shows a “View” link that opens the published post on the platform.
Failure: shows the error message from the platform.

For TikTok, expect a delay. The modal notes: “After publishing, it may take a few minutes for your video to be processed and visible on your TikTok profile.”

Click “Done” to close.

Result

The recording is published to each successful destination. To share the same recording to more destinations later, open the dropdown and click “Social Share” again.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	Likely cause
“Social Share” doesn’t appear in the dropdown	Social Share is not enabled on your account, or the recording is still processing
TikTok isn’t in the destinations list	TikTok sharing is not enabled on your account, or you have no TikTok destinations connected
The Reel / Short toggle is disabled	The recording exceeds the platform’s short-form limit (Facebook: 90 s, YouTube: 180 s)
Share button is disabled and I don’t know why	At least one destination must be selected; every selected TikTok destination must have privacy set; and if a TikTok destination is selected, the recording must be 10 minutes or shorter
My TikTok privacy switched from “Only me” to “Public” by itself	You selected “Branded Content”. TikTok rules do not allow “Only me” for branded content, so the modal switches privacy silently
Share to LinkedIn fails with a token error	LinkedIn asks for two separate authorizations (streaming and comments). Go to your destination settings and re-authorize the LinkedIn destination
Video doesn’t appear on TikTok right after sharing	Normal. TikTok processes videos in the background. Check again in a few minutes
