Guests and Speakers
How many feeds can be on screen — the 12 limit
The Dynamic Scene holds up to 12 feeds on screen at once, on every plan including Free. This is not a plan limit and upgrading does not raise it.
It counts FEEDS, not people. Everything in the Fast Access Bar takes a slot: each participant’s camera, any extra cameras of your own (multicam), each screen share and each media share. One person can therefore occupy several of the 12.
For example, a host on Pro running 3 cameras plus a screen share plus a media share is 5 feeds. Put all five on the Dynamic Scene and 7 slots remain for everyone else.
The Fast Access Bar itself holds more than the scene does — up to 20 feeds. So you can have more feeds connected than you can show at once; you choose which 12 are on screen. Trying to connect beyond that limit fails with a message asking you to remove some feeds first and then connect again.
How many can be connected at once: 20 feeds, and that count includes you. The Fast Access Bar holds up to 20 feeds in total — your own camera, your extra cameras, your screen share and media share all count toward it, alongside every guest and speaker. A host using 5 feeds leaves 15 for everyone else.
Going past 20 does not queue anyone: the connection fails with a message asking you to remove some feeds first and then connect again.
Guests are not limited by plan — Free invites the same as Pro, and inviting somebody never requires an upgrade. But “unlimited guests” is not accurate for a single moment in time: 20 connected feeds is the ceiling. What you can do is rotate people through — remove the feeds of guests who are finished and new guests can then join in their place, as many times as you like during a session.
Collaborator seats are a different thing again: those are team members who help manage the studio from the dashboard, and they are limited by plan (2 seats on Basic, 4 on Pro, 5-7 on Business, counting the account owner; Free has none).
How participants join
Remote participants join your broadcast from their web browser. No software is needed.
There are three kinds of participants:
- Speakers - Pre-registered participants you add to the event from the Dashboard. A speaker has a full profile (name, email, company, position, title, avatar, logo, phone) and a personal login link.
- Guests - People who join through the session’s invite link. A guest only has a name and picture.
- Editors - Producers who manage the broadcast.
Inviting guests
Guests join through the session’s invite link, which looks like https://console.evmux.com/guest/….
The Guest Invitation popup in the Fast Access Bar offers:
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Copy Link | Copy the invite URL to your clipboard |
| Gmail | Open Gmail with a pre-filled invitation email |
| Open your default email client with the invitation | |
| Regenerate | Create a new invite URL (invalidates the old one) |
After you regenerate the link, the old invite link stops working. Anyone who still has it cannot join.
Talking indicator
The studio shows who is currently talking, based on each participant’s live audio level.
Editing a participant’s details
The Edit Speaker popup lets you change a participant’s information.
| Field | Editable by |
|---|---|
| Speakers only (not guests) | |
| Personal URL | Read-only display |
| First Name | All (except other editors) |
| Last Name | All |
| Title | All (None, Mr, Ms, Mrs, Prof, Doc) |
| Company | All |

Editors edit their own details through their profile.
Adding a speaker to a slideshow
The Add Speaker popup lets you pick participants for a slideshow. It searches speakers and guests together by name.
Volume controls per participant
Each participant has a separate volume control for each of their sources:
| Source | Description |
|---|---|
| Main camera | Primary audio (0-100) |
| Screen share | Screen share audio |
| Media share | Media share audio |
| 2nd camera | Second camera audio |
| 3rd camera | Third camera audio |
Guest Destinations (Multi-User Broadcasting)
Evmux supports Guest Destinations - a feature that allows guests and speakers to connect their own social media accounts and stream the show to their channels simultaneously alongside the host’s.
How It Works
- The host enables Guest Destinations for the session
- Guests join and can add their own streaming destinations (YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, etc.)
- The Destinations panel shows Host and Guest tabs
- Each destination shows who added it
- When the host clicks Go Live, the stream goes to ALL active destinations
Guest Destination Requirements
- The guest must register for a free evmux account (prompted automatically)
- The host’s plan must support guest destinations
- The feature can be enabled/disabled per session by the host
Permissions
- Guests can only add/modify/remove their own destinations
- Guests cannot modify host destinations
- The host can disable guest destinations (removes all guest destinations)
- Only the host can start/stop the broadcast
For detailed steps, see How to Let a Guest Stream to Their Own Social Networks.
Best Practices
- Test before live: Have guests verify camera/mic in advance
- Use wired connections: Recommend wired internet for stability
- Good lighting: Remind guests about proper lighting
- Use headphones: Prevents echo feedback
- Chrome browser: Recommended for the best experience
- Minimum 3Mbps upload: Required for acceptable quality
- Regenerate links: Create new invite links for different sessions
- Assign to sessions: Pre-register speakers via dashboard for Pro Scenes
