How to Add a Frame/Border to a Layer
This guide shows you how to add decorative frames around camera and share layers.
Quick Steps
- Select the layer you want to frame
- Click the Frame icon in the layer toolbar
- Choose a frame from the available options
- Adjust color and size as needed
Supported Layer Types
Frames can be added to:
- Speaker/participant cameras
- Editor cameras (your own camera)
- Remote guest cameras
- Screen shares
- Media shares
They are not available for video layers or image layers — those have no frame icon in the layer toolbar. Use the layer’s border radius and border settings in the brush (style & effects) dropper instead.
Detailed Steps
Step 1: Select the Layer
- Click on the layer in the scene or Layers panel
- The layer toolbar appears above/below the selection
Step 2: Open Frame Editor
- Find the Frame icon in the layer toolbar (picture frame icon)
- Click to open the frame editor panel
- A panel with frame options appears (width: 340px)
Step 3: Choose a Frame Type
Default
- Uses the session’s default frame setting
- Click “Default” tile to apply
None
- Removes any frame from the layer
- Click the “None” tile (with ban icon)
Built-in Animated Frames
- Solid Line, Comet, Ribbon, Electric, Vines and Sparkle tiles, each with a live preview
- Click one to apply it to this layer; its settings appear under the tiles
- Reset to Default at the bottom restores that frame’s defaults for this layer

Custom Frames
- Browse available frame assets
- Click a frame thumbnail to select it
- Active frame shows highlighted
Add New Frame
- Click + Add to add a custom frame image
- Opens the gallery to select an image asset
- Added to your frame library
Step 4: Customize Frame Settings
Color (Hue)
- Slider from 0 to 100
- Shifts the frame’s color hue
- Disabled until a custom frame is selected
Size
- Slider from -50% to +50%
- Negative values shrink the frame
- Positive values expand the frame
- Disabled until a custom frame is selected
Step 5: Apply and Adjust
- Changes apply immediately
- Preview in the scene
- Click Reset to Default to restore original settings (for built-in frames)

Troubleshooting
Frame not appearing?
- Ensure layer type supports frames
- Check if “None” is selected
- Verify frame asset loaded correctly
Frame color not changing?
- Must have custom frame selected (not Default or None)
- Check that Color slider is not disabled
Frame size wrong?
- Adjust the Size slider
- Check layer dimensions
- Try Reset to Default
Can’t find Add button?
- Scroll to bottom of frame list
- Look for ”+ Add” tile
