How to Block, Ban, or Kick a Troll / Disruptive User

If someone is disrupting your broadcast - spamming comments, trolling in the guest room, or behaving inappropriately - you have several tools to deal with them. Use them in this order for the best results.

Step 1: Ban the User from Comments (Platform-Level Block)

If the troll is posting disruptive comments, ban them first from the Comments tab. This blocks them at the platform level (YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, etc.).

  1. Open the Comments tab in the left sidebar
  2. Find a comment from the troll
  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to their comment
  4. Click “Block User”
  5. The user is now banned on the platform - they can no longer post comments from that account

Supported platforms for banning:

  • YouTube
  • Twitch
  • Kick
  • Twitter/X
  • Rumble
  • LinkedIn
  • Evmux Player

Why do this first: Banning from comments blocks the user’s social account on the platform itself. Even if they rejoin your stream, they won’t be able to post comments from that account.

Step 2: Kick the Guest from the Session

If the troll joined as a guest/speaker via the invite link:

  1. Find the troll in the Fast Access Bar (bottom bar with participant thumbnails)
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on their thumbnail
  3. Click “Kick Speaker”
  4. Confirm when prompted
  5. The user is immediately disconnected from the session
  6. Their device fingerprint is saved to a ban list so they cannot rejoin even with the same link

What happens when you kick:

  • The participant is instantly removed from the studio
  • Their audio and video are cut off
  • Their device fingerprint is automatically added to the ban list for this session
  • If they try to rejoin with the same device/browser, they will be blocked

Step 3: Regenerate the Guest Invite URL (If They Keep Coming Back)

If the troll manages to rejoin using a different device or browser:

  1. Click “Invite Guest” in the Fast Access Bar to open the invite dialog
  2. Click “Regenerate guest url” at the bottom
  3. Confirm: “Are you sure you want to re-generate a new url for guests? (The current URL will become invalid)”
  4. Click “Re-generate”
  5. The old link is now permanently invalid
  6. Share the new link only with your trusted participants

Important: This invalidates the link for ALL guests, not just the troll. Make sure to send the new link to legitimate participants.

Managing Banned Users

View Banned Users

  1. Open the Invite Guest popup (click invite button in Fast Access Bar)
  2. Look for the “Banned Users” section
  3. This shows all users who have been banned by fingerprint from this session

Unban a User

If you accidentally banned someone:

  1. Open the Invite Guest popup
  2. Find the user in the “Banned Users” list
  3. Click the unban button next to their name
  4. They can now rejoin with their original device

Additional Protective Measures

  • Use Speakers instead of Guests - Pre-register trusted participants from the Dashboard. Each gets a unique personal link. See How to Add a Speaker from the Dashboard
  • Share invite links privately - Don’t post guest invite links publicly; send them directly to trusted participants
  • Regenerate link after each session - Start fresh for the next broadcast
  • Monitor the Fast Access Bar - Watch for unfamiliar names joining

Tips

  • Ban from comments FIRST before kicking - this ensures they can’t post even if they somehow rejoin
  • Kick adds a fingerprint ban automatically - the troll can’t rejoin from the same device/browser
  • Regenerate URL as last resort - this affects all guests, not just the troll
  • If a troll uses multiple accounts, ban each one from comments and then regenerate the guest URL
  • For recurring professional broadcasts, use the Speakers system from the Dashboard instead of the open guest link
