How to Stream to a Scheduled YouTube Event

If you’ve already scheduled a live stream on YouTube and want to stream into it from evmux, you can connect directly to that event without copying stream keys.

Important: Use “Connect to an existing event”

You don’t need to manually copy stream keys from YouTube Studio. Evmux can connect directly to your scheduled YouTube events.

Quick Steps

  1. Open the Editor (Studio)
  2. Go to Destinations in the right sidebar
  3. Click on your YouTube destination to expand it
  4. Click “Connect to an existing event”
  5. Select your scheduled event from the list
  6. Click Go Live when ready

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Make Sure YouTube is Connected

First, you need a YouTube destination set up:

  1. If you haven’t added YouTube yet, click + in the Destinations panel
  2. Select YouTube and authorize your account
  3. Your YouTube channel should now appear in the destinations list

Step 2: Open YouTube Destination Settings

  1. In the Destinations panel (right sidebar)
  2. Find your YouTube destination
  3. Click on it to expand the settings

Step 3: Connect to Your Scheduled Event

  1. Look for the link: “Connect to an existing event”
  2. Click on it
  3. Evmux will fetch your scheduled YouTube events
  4. A list of your scheduled live streams appears

Step 4: Select Your Event

  1. Find your scheduled event in the list
  2. Click to select it
  3. Click Confirm to connect

Step 5: Verify Connection

After connecting:

  • You’ll see “Existing event has been connected”
  • The event title and details will be shown
  • You can edit or disconnect if needed

Step 6: Go Live

  1. Click the Go Live button in the header
  2. Make sure your YouTube destination is enabled
  3. Click Start
  4. Your stream goes directly into the scheduled event

What Happens When You Stream

  • Evmux streams directly to your scheduled YouTube event
  • All your pre-set event details remain (title, description, thumbnail)
  • Viewers who got the scheduled notification will see you go live
  • The scheduled event time is used (you can start early or on time)

Disconnecting from an Event

If you want to stream to a different event or create a new one:

  1. Expand the YouTube destination settings
  2. Click the X button next to “Existing event has been connected”
  3. This disconnects from the scheduled event
  4. You can then connect to another event or create a new stream

Troubleshooting

Don’t see “Connect to an existing event”?

  • Make sure your YouTube account is authorized
  • You need to be the owner/manager of the YouTube channel
  • Try refreshing the destinations

No events showing in the list?

  • Make sure you have scheduled events on YouTube
  • Events must be scheduled (not past or already streaming)
  • Check you’re connected to the correct YouTube channel

Stream not going to the scheduled event?

  • Verify the connection shows “Existing event has been connected”
  • Make sure the YouTube destination is enabled (toggle ON)
  • Check your internet connection

Alternative: Creating a New Stream

If you don’t have a scheduled event, evmux can create a new YouTube stream:

  1. Don’t click “Connect to an existing event”
  2. Fill in the Title and Description in the YouTube destination settings
  3. When you Go Live, evmux creates a new stream automatically
