How to Use the Teleprompter Widget
The Teleprompter app lets you read your scripts while on camera. Text scrolls at your chosen speed, and you can control playback with quick-access buttons.
Only you see it. The teleprompter is rendered for the producer alone — it is never sent to guests and never appears in the broadcast or the recording. That makes it the answer whenever someone wants presenter notes, speaker notes or cue cards: text they can read while presenting that the audience cannot see. evmux has no separate notes field anywhere else — slideshows in particular have no hidden-notes feature, so a script in the teleprompter beside the slides is how that is done.
When to Use
- Reading scripts, talking points, or show notes while presenting
- Keeping a consistent pace during a presentation
- Displaying text that only you (the producer) need to see on-screen
Steps
Step 1: Add the Teleprompter
- Open the Layers tab. Apps work on both scene types:
- Dynamic Scene: expand Apps & Widgets -> Add from marketplace
- Pro scene: click Add New Layer -> Apps & Widgets
- Search for “Teleprompter” and click to add it
Step 2: Enter Your Script
- In the app settings panel (right side), click Edit Text
- The rich text editor opens
- Paste or type your script
- Close the editor when done
Step 3: Configure Appearance

| Line Height | 30-50 | Increase for more space between lines |
| Speed | 20-40 | Lower for slow pace, higher for fast readers |
| Text Transform | On | Uppercase is easier to read at a glance |
| Padding | 20-30px | Space around the text edges |
Step 4: Position the Teleprompter
- Drag the teleprompter layer near your camera feed
- Resize it to a comfortable reading size
- Position it where you can glance at it naturally
Step 5: Control Playback
Use the fast action buttons in the toolbar:

You can also use the progress slider in the settings panel to jump to any position.
Step 6: Hide from Audience (Optional)
If you don’t want viewers to see the teleprompter:
- Use the Show/Hide fast action button to toggle visibility
- Or position the teleprompter layer behind other layers
Tips
- Test your speed before going live - do a practice run to find the right scroll speed
- Use larger font sizes (40+) if you’re far from the screen
- Uppercase text (Text Transform: On) is easier to scan quickly
- Pause and resume as needed - don’t feel locked to the scroll speed
- Use the progress slider to skip to specific sections during the show
- A transparent background can help blend the teleprompter with your scene
