Social Share — Publish a Recording to Social Platforms
Social Share lets you publish a finished recording directly to one or more social platforms without leaving the evmux dashboard. You reach it from the per-recording dropdown on the Recordings page. It replaces downloading the file and uploading it to each platform yourself.
The dropdown item is labelled Social Share with a small blue New badge next to it. It appears on full recordings and on short clips once the recording file is ready.
Supported platforms
A single share can target any combination of these destinations:
| Platform | Notes |
|---|---|
| Facebook (Page) | Optional “Share as Reel” if the recording is under 90 seconds |
| YouTube | Optional “Share as Short” if the recording is 3 minutes or under |
| LinkedIn (Profile) | |
| LinkedIn (Page) | |
| TikTok | Shown only when TikTok sharing is enabled for your account; the recording must be 10 minutes or under |
When the share window opens, it lists your personal destinations and the destinations of the current event together, without duplicates. Only destinations on the platforms above are shown.
What you see
The flow is a single window with two views:
- Selection view — titled “Share to Social Media”. Pick one or more destinations by clicking their thumbnails. Each selected destination expands into its own section with the platform-specific fields (title, description, privacy, and so on). When several destinations are selected, Apply to all buttons copy a title or description to every section at once.
- Results view — the title switches to “Share Results” during and after the share. Each destination shows success or failure, with a View link on success or the error message on failure. The footer button becomes Done.
While the share is running, the share button reads “Sharing…”. All selected destinations are shared at the same time.
Per-platform fields and rules
YouTube
- Title (max 100 characters)
- Description
- Privacy — Private / Unlisted / Public
- Share as Short — available only when the recording is 3 minutes or under; otherwise the “Short” button is disabled
Facebook Page
- Description
- Share as Reel — available only when the recording is under 90 seconds; otherwise the “Reel” button is disabled
LinkedIn (Profile or Page)
- Title (max 100 characters)
- Description
- Profile and Page destinations use the same fields.
TikTok
- Title (max 150 characters)
- Description
- Privacy (required — the share button stays disabled until this is set for every selected TikTok destination):
- Public to everyone
- Mutual-follow friends
- Only me
- Commercial content disclosure — a checkbox labelled “This content promotes a brand, product, or service” that, when ticked, reveals two options:
- “Your Brand - You are promoting yourself or your own business”
- “Branded Content - You are promoting another brand or a third party”
- Interactions: Allow Comment / Allow Duet / Allow Stitch (all off by default)
Branded content rule: When you pick “Branded Content”, the note “Branded content can only be set to Public or Friends visibility.” appears under the privacy selector, and the “Only me” option is disabled. If “Only me” was selected when you tick branded content, the privacy switches to “Public to everyone” without a warning. Check the privacy field again before you share.
Too-long warning: If the recording is longer than 10 minutes, the window shows “Video is too long for TikTok. Maximum allowed duration is 10 minutes.” and the share button is disabled while any TikTok destination is selected.
After publishing: Below the form, the window shows “After publishing, it may take a few minutes for your video to be processed and visible on your TikTok profile.” along with links to the music-usage policy and, when branded content is selected, the branded-content policy.
Add a destination mid-flow
If you have no destination for a platform you want to share to, click Add Destination inside the share window. The share window hides, the standard destinations popup opens, and you sign in to the platform there. When you close the destinations popup, the share window reopens automatically with your previous selections still in place.
Social Share and your existing destinations
A destination you set up for live broadcasting (a YouTube channel, a Facebook page, and so on) is also a valid Social Share target — the same connected account is reused. Social Share is not a new account link; it is another way to deliver a finished recording. The share window shows the same destinations as the broadcast destinations panel, filtered to the platforms that support publishing a recording.
Related but separate: Pre-Recorded Livestream
A neighbouring dropdown item on the same recording row is “Create Pre-Recorded Livestream”. It does not open the Social Share window — it opens the destinations module with the recording pre-selected as the source. Use it when you want to broadcast a recording (with a scheduled go-live, chat, and so on) instead of publishing it as a post. See create-pre-recorded-livestream-from-recording.
Quick answers
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Where do I find it? | Recordings page → per-recording dropdown → “Social Share” (with “New” badge) |
| Which platforms? | Facebook Page, YouTube, LinkedIn (Profile + Page), TikTok (when enabled for your account) |
| Length limits? | FB Reel under 90 s · YT Short 3 min or under · TikTok 10 min or under · LinkedIn no limit |
| Why is the “Share” button disabled? | At least one destination must be selected; every TikTok destination must have privacy set; and if a TikTok destination is selected, the recording must be 10 minutes or under |
| Why did my TikTok privacy change to Public? | You ticked “Branded Content” while “Only me” was selected. Branded content is restricted to Public or Friends, so the privacy switched automatically |
| Why is my video not on TikTok yet? | TikTok processes the video after publishing; it can take a few minutes to appear on your profile |
| Will I lose progress if I add a destination mid-flow? | No — the share window hides while you connect the account and reopens with your selections kept |
| Social Share vs Create Pre-Recorded Livestream? | Social Share publishes a post; Create Pre-Recorded Livestream broadcasts the recording as a live event |
