Local Recording System (ISO Recording)
ISO recording (local recording) captures each participant’s own camera and microphone feed inside their browser. The recording is saved on the participant’s computer first and then uploaded to evmux in the background, so the producer can download every feed separately for post-production.
What it does
- Records each participant’s feed on their own machine, at full camera quality
- Saves the recording in the browser’s local storage while the broadcast runs
- Uploads the recording to evmux in the background
- Shows upload progress
- Retries failed uploads automatically
How a recording proceeds
- Recording starts when the broadcast starts. Each participant’s browser records their own outgoing feed.
- During the broadcast the recording is saved in small pieces to the browser’s local storage. A recording indicator is shown.
- When the broadcast ends the recording is finalised and becomes ready for upload.
- Upload runs in the background. The status panel shows how much is still recording, waiting for upload, and already uploaded.
- After upload the local copy is no longer needed. Anything that failed to upload is retried automatically.
Pausing and resuming uploads
Uploads can be paused, for example to save bandwidth while you are still live, and resumed later. Your choice overrides the automatic behaviour until you change it again.
What to watch for
- Keep evmux open until the upload finishes. The recording lives on the participant’s computer until it is uploaded. Closing the tab before the upload completes can lose the part that was not yet uploaded.
- Use a supported browser. ISO recording needs a browser that can record media locally.
- Leave free disk space. Browser storage is limited. Long recordings on a full disk can fail.
- Check the status panel after the show to confirm every participant’s recording reached 100%.
